I worked at Tianjin No.3 Middle School as a lead teacher when I was in China. Since 2004, I have devoted myself to the overseas Chinese education program. I served as a board member at CCL for one term. Then, beginning from 2015, I have been teaching Chinese Class here. I will do my best to make my students enjoy learning Chinese culture through my classes.

I joined CCL as a teacher in 2005. My personality combines humor and mild temperament. I enjoy singing and dancing for leisure. In 2017, I proudly received the award of “Outstanding Overseas Chinese Teachers” honored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China. I am willing to devote myself to disseminating Chinese language and culture overseas for my whole life.

I have taught CCL bilingual classes for 10 years since 2008. Over the years, I designed my class based on students’ interest, supported my instruction with the curriculum. My goals are to cultivate students’ interest in Chinese culture, and help them understand the importance of learning Chinese language. I hope we can work together to achieve these goals, and enjoy the journey!

Upon receiving her Master’s Degree in Education, I received my teaching certificates in NY and NJ states. I taught ESL and Mandarin in both public and private schools in the past. Currently, I teache at Smithtown High School East and SSPJ school in St. James. I was one of the recipients of “Outstanding Overseas Chinese Teachers” given by the Chinese Government in 2017.

After my twin daughters were born in 2007, I began to teach Chinese. Since 2014, I have taught Chinese at Harbor Country Day School from early childhood through eighth grade. I love teaching Chinese and love children. The best time to start learning a language is in childhood, so I am happy to share my rich experience teaching Chinese language and culture.

With more than two decades of teaching experience in U.S. K-7 grades, I aim to develop confidence and interest for students to learn Chinese. I have won Teaching Excellence Medals by the Association of Chinese Schools in America, and 2017 Outstanding Overseas Chinese Teachers by Chinese Government.

Shouyun Qiao
After earning a Master degree in education I became a NYC public school teacher. Years later, I had my fourth child and become a full time mom. I was teaching at Huaxia and Queen’s college Chinese schools and have earned various outstanding teacher awards. I am currently teaching in the Dix Hills and CCL. I love teaching and am passionate about sharing my knowledge of the Chinese language and culture.

I received my Master of Chinese Language Education from the School of Overseas Education, Nanjing University. I have been engaged in overseas Chinese education since 1990. I have won various awards from different cultural and educational institutions, and accumulated rich theoretical knowledge and first-hand teaching experience in heritage Chinese teaching.

MBA from SBU, MS in CS from CCNY. I love to promote Chinese culture and help foreigners who are interested in Chinese to learn Chinese. In 2013, I began teaching adult Chinese at CCL. My motivation comes from the adult students who don't have any Chinese background, come to class very time. I love to hear them read loudly and have language exercises with them. I am good at adjusting the classroom atmosphere to make students learn Chinese easily.

Influenced by my father, I started to get interested in Chinese Chess when I was a kid. I was the champion in the Department of Physics, Tsinghua University. I joined CCL in 2017. I hope more and more students will get interested in this traditional Chinese board game, and will enjoyed in learning it.

I have been involved in the Martial Arts for over 25 years; I am currently a 5th Degree Black Belt Master in Kempo presented by Grandmaster Kimo. I hold ranks in: Shaolin Kempo / Jiu Jitsu, Kempo Jutsu & Kajukenbo. I am Full-Time Instructor at Crino’s Martial Arts, and do my best to create a family friendly atmosphere for both our students and their parents.

My interest spreads among a large variety of handcrafting, including paper crafts, sewing, jewelry designing, painting, etc. I hope to share the joy of handcraft work with all the kids along the way, and also harvest patience and diligence at the end. I worked as a newspaper journalist then a book editor before came to the US, and also taught in high school. Currently, I am also an editor for a children magazine in Chinese.

I have been playing Go for more than 30 years. I'm now ranked as 5 Dan (amateur) in the American Go Association (AGA). I started to teach the GO class at CCL since 2012, and have been enjoying introducing this great board game to the new generation over the years.

I joined CCL as a volunteer in 2017. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of arts and guiding students to create fun art projects. As an art student for 7 years, I specialize in oil painting and pencil drawing. My artwork has been featured in the Long Island Art League gallery exhibition, and have won awards in the Huntington tulip festival contest for three years in a row.
