我们的历史 | Our History

石溪中文学校是纽约长岛东部一所历史悠久的中文学校。学校创立于1972年，由杜致礼女士、著名物理学家杨振宁教授，以及其他热爱中华文化的人士共同发起。

五十多年来，学校一直致力于中文教育与中华文化的传承，为长岛地区的华裔及其他族裔家庭提供学习中文、了解中华文化的平台。

Stony Brook Chinese School is one of the longest-established Chinese schools on eastern Long Island, New York. Founded in 1972 by Chih-Li Tu, renowned physicist Professor Chen-Ning Yang, and other members of the community who shared a passion for Chinese culture, the school has served generations of families for more than five decades.

Our mission is to provide students of all backgrounds with opportunities to learn Chinese and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

石溪中文学校是一个无宗教、无政治倾向的非营利教育组织，以提供高质量的简体中文教育为宗旨。

学校设有从学前班至十年级的各级中文课程，同时为非中文家庭开设双语课程，并设有成人中文课程。我们重视培养学生学习中文的兴趣和信心，希望帮助他们建立扎实的语言基础，并鼓励有一定中文水平的学生参加 HSK 中文水平考试及 AP 中文考试。

Stony Brook Chinese School is a nonreligious, nonpolitical, nonprofit educational organization dedicated to providing high-quality Simplified Chinese language education.

Our programs include Chinese classes from Pre-K through Grade 10, bilingual classes for students from non-Chinese-speaking families, and Chinese classes for adults. We focus on building students’ interest, confidence, and a strong foundation in the Chinese language while encouraging advanced students to pursue HSK and AP Chinese examinations.

文化与社区 | Culture & Community

除了中文课程，学校还为学生提供丰富多彩的文化和兴趣课程，包括国画、书法、围棋、中国象棋、民族舞蹈、武术、绘画等。

学校每年举办中文演讲比赛、春节庆祝活动及各类文化活动，为学生提供展示中文能力、才艺和自信的舞台。同时，学校积极参与长岛社区活动，鼓励学生通过表演、文化交流及志愿服务了解社区服务的重要性。

Beyond language learning, our school offers a variety of cultural and enrichment programs, including Chinese painting, calligraphy, Go, Chinese chess, traditional dance, martial arts, drawing, and more.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to participate in Chinese speech competitions, Lunar New Year celebrations, performances, and community events. We also encourage our students to take part in volunteer service and cultural exchange throughout the Long Island community.

杨振宁教授 | Professor Chen-Ning Franklin Yang

杨振宁教授（1922–）是世界著名理论物理学家，1957年诺贝尔物理学奖获得者。他与李政道教授于1956年共同提出宇称不守恒理论，并因此获得诺贝尔物理学奖，对现代物理学的发展产生了深远影响。

1972年，杨振宁教授与夫人杜致礼女士，以及其他热心中华文化与中文教育的社区人士共同发起创办石溪中文学校，为当地华裔及其他族裔的孩子们提供学习中文、了解中华文化的平台。

Professor Chen-Ning Franklin Yang (1922–) is a world-renowned theoretical physicist and recipient of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics. Together with Professor Tsung-Dao Lee, he proposed the theory of parity nonconservation in 1956, a groundbreaking contribution to modern physics that led to their Nobel Prize.

In 1972, Professor Yang, his wife Chih-Li Tu, and other community members dedicated to Chinese language and culture helped establish the Center for Chinese Learning at Stony Brook, creating a place where children and families could learn Chinese and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.

杜致礼女士 | Chih-Li Tu

杜致礼女士（1929–2003），出生于南京，是石溪中文学校的重要创办人之一。她长期关心中华文化与中文教育在海外的传承。

1972年，杜致礼女士与杨振宁教授及其他社区热心人士共同创办石溪中文学校，为学校的建立和发展奠定了重要基础。五十多年后的今天，学校依然延续着创校之初的使命，为一代又一代学生提供学习中文、认识中华文化的机会。

Chih-Li Tu (1929–2003), born in Nanjing, was one of the key founders of the Center for Chinese Learning at Stony Brook and was deeply committed to preserving Chinese language and culture within the community.

In 1972, she joined Professor Chen-Ning Yang and other dedicated community members in founding the school. Their efforts laid the foundation for an institution that, more than five decades later, continues its original mission of helping new generations learn the Chinese language and connect with Chinese culture.
