棋类俱乐部使命宣言 | CHESS Club Mission statement

通过棋类对弈、结交朋友、享受乐趣以及优雅地对待胜负输赢，用来促进文化交流和战略思维。中国象棋和围棋是中华文化的重要组成部分。该俱乐部将鼓励孩子们通过游戏学习中国文化。新增的国际象棋和五子棋项目，将扩大孩子们的兴趣爱好和文化交流的范围。该俱乐部宗旨将与石溪中文学校的使命和目标紧密契合 

Promotion of culture exchange and strategic thinking through chess playing. Making friends and having fun. Winning and losing with grace. Chinese Chess and Go are very important parts of our Chinese culture. This club will encourage the kids to learn Chinese culture through the games. It will also benefit the SBCCL and be well aligned with the school mission and goal.

棋类简介 | CHESS INTRODUCTION

中国象棋、国际象棋、围棋、五子棋和中国跳棋既有相似之处，也有不同之处。它们有不同的规则和策略。每种游戏都有其独特的风格和优点。

全球有超过10亿人参与这些棋类游戏。这些棋类游戏培养年轻人的战略思维、规划和战术能力，训练棋手在每一步行动之前都提前思考。这些棋类游戏还可以培养年轻人的耐心和领导能力，并争取胜利以及有效的应对生活中各方面的挑战。

这些棋类反映了从起源到现在数千年的历史和文化。它们可以成为文化交流的载体，促进学员了解生活中和战场上的不同策略。

Xiangqi, International Chess, Go, Gomoku and Chinese checkers have similarities and differences. They have different rules using different strategies. Each of them has its unique styles and benefits of playing.

These chess are played by over a billion people worldwide. The chesses foster the young people’s ability for strategic thinking, planning and tactics. It trains people to think ahead of a few steps before each move. It can also train young people’s patience and leadership to fight for a winning battle and dealing with challenges in all aspects of their lives.

The chesses reflect the history and culture from its creation up to modern days through thousands of years of progression.  It can serve as a vehicle for a culture exchange and understanding of the different approaches in life and in battlefield.

活动时间 | TIME AND FREQUENCY

每周六下午3点至5点 （同石溪中文学校日历保持一致）Every Saturday from 3 to 5PM during the school period

Angela Zhang (张曼吉)和唐梦涵（Andy Tang）。两人均为俱乐部联合创始人和主席。

俱乐部创始人介绍 | CLUB FOUNDERS PROFILE

Angela Zhang是Mount Sinai 高中11年级的学生。Angela喜欢艺术、绘画、小提琴、中国象棋、中国跳棋、围棋、数学和科学。她喜欢通过棋类游戏和绘画来放松身心。

Menghan Tang（Andy）是Ward Melville高中11年级的学生。他喜欢国际象棋、五子棋、围棋、数学和科学。他在石溪中文学校学习围棋超过7年，并担任了两年的助教 

Angela Zhang is a 11th grade student with Mount Sinai High School.  Angela likes art, Chinese Chess, Chinese checkers, Go, math and science. She likes to mentally train herself through chess games and drawings.

Menghan Tang (Andy) is a 10th grade student with Ward Melville High School.  He likes International Chess, Gomoku, Go,  Math and Science. He learnt Go in SBCCL for more than 7 years and also served as TA for two years.
