中文学校疫情捐助及表彰

从2020年初疫情爆发以来，中文学校在各位家长、师生和社区朋友们的大力支持下，和包括长岛华人协会在内的多个组织一起，组织了多次的疫情相关的捐款和捐物。中文学校的一系列活动受到了社区的高度认可。

获得Suffolk County郡长Steve Bellone和亚裔协会评选的The Operation Hope: COVID-19 Responder AWARD

并获得纽约州州长Andrew Cuomo签发的Certificate of Recognition。

我们向所有支持中文学校的朋友们表示感谢！

捐款捐物的详情统计如下（可能还有少数没有包括在内的）：

• 1. We solicited  our school families and friends to donate  gloves, masks, and sanitizers they could spare. We collected a few boxes of the donations at three locations and dropped them off at the Wang Center to the SBUH on 3/23/20.

  2. We responded to the "COVID-19 Health Crisis Challenge", a community challenge for donating funds to SBUH initiated by the Knapp Family. With support from our school families and friends, we donated $38,100 to the foundation in the name of our school on 3/24/20. 

  3. The school, together with Long Island Chinese American Association and 10 other local organizations initiated a fundraiser. We collected $75,000 in total which were used for purchasing PPE, including masks, gloves and protective gowns. These were sent to many local organizations  on Long Island.

  4. The school specifically reached out and made delivery to the following organizations: 

• • 120 KN95 masks were donated to the Setauket Fire Department with assistance of the Three Village Civic Association on 03/20/2020. 

  • 5,000 surgical masks and 2,000 KN95 masks to Stony Brook University Hospital on 3/27/20. 

  • 1,500 surgical masks to Stony Brook University School of Nursing on 3/30/20.

  • 500 KN95 masks, 2,000 surgical masks to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital on 4/2/20.

• 1. The school facilitated the connection of the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University to the Houston Beida Alumni Association, securing a donation of 400 N95 surgical masks and 96 protective coveralls on 4/6/20.

  2. The school collected 4,450 surgical masks from various sources and delivered them to our local Walmart, BJ’s, Costco, Stop & Shop stores, and the 6th Police Precinct in Suffolk County in April, 2020.
